B.D.S. COURSE

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course is 4 year degree course and 1 year Internship course which is run under the aegis of Dental Council of India which was constituted on 12th April 1949 under an Act of Parliament – the Dentists Act, 1948 (XVI of 1948). The Dental Council of India runs under the aegis of Department of Health, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi.

ACADEMIC YEAR – 1ST

  1. General Anatomy including Embryology and Histology

  2. General Human Physiology and Biochemistry

  3. Dental Anatomy, Embryology and oral Histology

 

ACADEMIC YEAR – 2ND

  1. General Pathology and Microbiology

  2. General and Dental Pharmacology and Therapeutics

  3. Dental Materials

  4. Pre Clinical Conservative Dentistry

  5. Pre Clinical Prosthodontics

ACADEMIC YEAR – 3RD

  1. General Medicine

  2. General Surgery

  3. Oral Pathology and Microbiology

 

ACADEMIC YEAR – 4TH

  1. Oral Medicine and Radiology

  2. Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry

  3. Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics

  4. Periodontology

  5. Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge

  6. Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

  7. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

  8. Public Health Dentistry

After passing 4th Year University examination, one year rotatory internship is mandatory for all the BDS students.

EXAMINATION SCHEME FOR B.D.S

INTERNAL ASSESSMENT EXAMINATION

The internal assessment examinations are held three times in a particular academic year.

UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION

The scheme of examination for BDS course is divided into first BDS examination at the end of the first academic year, Second BDS examination at the end of second year, third BDS examination at the end of third year and final BDS examination at the end of fourth year.
